We would like to offer you a little peek into our wonderful neighbourhood and all of it’s beauty, recreational fun, and of course our easy accessibility to Victoria’s famous Inner Harbour. Our downtown harbour boasts the Royal British Columbia Museum, the British Columbia Parliament Buildings, and of course the world famous Empress Hotel. Victoria’s beautiful downtown with all it’s famous heritage is just 10 blocks from our house. Ashcroft House B&B is close enough to walk into the heart of our wonderful city in just 15 minutes (depending on your strolling pace) or a quick 4 minute drive.
We are so close to the heart of our beautiful city yet you’ll feel like you are a world away from the bustling downtown core.
If you are bringing your car to Victoria Ashcroft House does have unrestricted parking on our street as well as a private drive, there are also several city parkades in the downtown core. Remember to ask us for our parkade tickets and you’ll get your first hour of parking free, a great way to avoid unwanted souvenirs as our street meters are only good for 90 minute time frames.
Ashcroft House Bed & Breakfast Inn is an easy walk into the heart of downtown Victoria as well. In a quick 15 minutes you can head straight into town along Government Street past lovely heritage homes, one of which is the birthplace of Emily Carr a famous Victoria artist. If you are as in love with the fresh sea air as we are a beautiful oceanside stroll into downtown is the ticket. You can follow the oceanside path to Ogden Point (Victoria’s cruise ship terminal) and continuing a short stretch past the heliport & Coast Guard Station.
The path then stretches right past Victoria’s colourful Fisherman’s Warf continuing along the water right into town.
This is our favorite walk into town and takes about 50 minutes, depending of course on how long you photograph the harbour seals at Fisherman’s Warf! One more quick suggestion; many of our guests also use the BigBusVictoria as one of the bus stops on this hop-on hop-off tour is less than a block from the house. The bus stop at the Mile Zero marker on scenic Dallas Road makes this transportation option incredibly convenient and the Big Bus runs all high season from April through September. The bus tours take you to the downtown highlights; the harbour, Canada’s oldest Chinatown, and even a city tour past Craigdarough Castle and through the community of Oak Bay. Don’t put the camera away yet as you will love the oceanside views as it curls along Dallas Road and drops you off at the mile zero marker just a block from our house! The “Mile Zero Marker” is the start of our West to East Trans Canada Highway which runs across 3000 plus miles of our beautiful country to Newfoundland, what a drive that would be! Please inquire if the BigBusVictoria is of interest. We can offer you a 3 day pass instead of the regular 2 day pass at no extra charge online and, we have access to special discounts when offered. They also partner with a shuttle that will take you from downtown to the beautiful Butchart Gardens located in Saannich, approximately 30 to 40 minutes from downtown.
